Brève description
Global Health can be regarded as population health on a trans-national scale. It focuses on the determinants and distribution of health and disease in human populations that affect more than one country. Both inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary approaches are used with the ultimate goal of achieving equity in health across international boundaries. Much of the research focus in global health has recently been targeted at achieving the eight Millennium Development Goals by the year 2015 with the ultimate goal of reducing and eliminating poverty (http://www.un.org/millenniumgoals/).
The Global Health Axis of the RRSPQ was established in 2005 with the aim of promoting competitive Quebec-led research in the domain, to maximize existing and emerging research potential, and to provide opportunities for networking.
Objectives of the Axis
- Increase and strengthen the profile of Global Health in the Quebec research community.
- Facilitate knowledge exchange and networking between Quebec Global Health researchers.
- Increase access to knowledge and promote knowledge diffusion.
- Stimulate Global Health research activities and scientific production among Quebec students and young researchers working in Quebec.
