Training Activities
Under the 4P Program struture, Fellows participate in a monthly seminar, three intensive sessions (training for a period of 3 or 4 days) per year as well as an orientation session.
2012-2011 Programmation
2010-2011 Programmation
2009-2010 Programmation
The seminars are intended primarily for 4P Fellows, but are open to all interested graduate students and researchers, professionals and policy makers seeking to improve their knowledge and research capacity in population health (depending on number of seats available).
Monthly seminars alternate between Montreal and Quebec City. Travel expenses of Fellows, Mentors and Facilitators are paid by the 4P Training Program.
- Fellow Seminar : Each month, a 4P Training Program Fellow presents its research project and progress of its work. This workshop is led by two Mentors who are not part of the Fellow's thesis committee. The exercise aims to promote exchanges between Fellows of the program, Mentors and Thesis Supervisors or Research Supervisors (if applicable).
- Transdisciplinary Research Seminars : These seminars, led by at least two Mentors or Faculty from different disciplines and backgrounds, aim to touch on a problem from different disciplinary perspectives. They consist of didactic presentations on conceptual, methodological or epistemological content, and applying principles and theories to practical problems of public health.
4-day Intensive Sessions
The Summer School of Public Health Department of Montreal, the Annual Conference of the Canadian Public Health Association (or the Canadian Association for Research on Health Services) and the Journées annuelles de santé publique (JASP) are the major opportunities for intensive training for Fellows. On these occasions, workshops pre-conference for grantees are organized in collaboration with the Quebec Population Health Research Network (QPHRN/RRSPQ).
The program pays for the Fellows' participation in these events and encourages them to submit abstracts.
Orientation Session - September
This annual event aims to introduce the Mentors and Fellows to the functionning of the 4P Training Program, particularly in the development of Personalized Training Plan. A seminar on public health intervention research is also held at that time.
