Scholarships for Doctoral and Postdoctoral studies

Each year, usually in the Spring, students are invited to submit their application to the Admitting Competition for Doctoral and Post-doctoral training scholarships. The candidates receive a scholarship of 3 years for a PhD and of 2 years for a post-doct.
  • PhD Fellowships: $ 21,000 or more/year

  • Post Doctoral Fellowships: $ 36,750 or more/year

During their studies, Fellows are encouraged to apply for funding to a recognized funding agency. As an incentive, those who achieve success will receive an additional complementary scholarship from the 4P Training Program.

Exceptionally, and after assessing the proposals, an additional year of fellowship may be granted.

Scholarships for projects in remote areas

Scholarships of up to $15,000 per year are available to 4P Fellows wishing to complete their research outside of major urban centers, particularly in the northern regions of Quebec or Canada.

Scholarships worth $5,000 are offered to 4P Fellows who carry a specific project lasting approximately four months in a remote region in response to a request from a public health organization. The 4P Training Program presents regular opportunities for research or public health interventions that meet these criteria.

4P Fellows who wish to apply for these scholarships must complete a form and have it approved by their mentor and/or supervisor and the Director of Public Health of the targeted region.

Scholarships for Complementary Training

Scholarships are available to 4P Training Program Fellows who want to take part of additional training offered outside of Canada. For more information on these scholarships, contact Mrs Anne-Marie Hamelin (4P-AMH.eboh@mcgill.ca).

Fellowships for Young Foreign Researchers

These fellowships worth up to $ 10,000 for a period of three months (and a maximum value of $ 18,000 for a period of six months) are intended for foreign young researchers * to enable them to complete an short duration research internship (3-6 months) in a Quebec organization of public health. The Public Health Agency of Canada can also be seen as a training environment. The research project should focus on public health interventions.

* In this context, are considered "young researchers": doctoral students, who completed their doctoral studies within the last five years and postdoctoral fellows.

Information
Applicants must choose a public health mentor ( see the list ) based in a Quebec Public Health establishment or the Public Health Agency of Canada who agrees to supervise the internship. Registration to the 3rd cycle in a Quebec university is a prerequisite. The procedures surrounding applications for student visas and other procedures relating to travel, stay and the establishment of research will be borne by the student. The amount of the scholarship will be reviewed if the stay is shortened or interrupted. This type of fellowship is not renewable.
