Support for graduate Students'participation to International Conferences

Contest 2015-2016

The RRSPQ is pleased to announce its contest for the support to graduate students for presentation at international conferences in connection with the activities of its strategic groupings.
The request of one (1) student by principal investigator and member of the network is accepted.
The goal of the contest is to provide partial financial support for the participation of graduate students in international conferences in order to present the results of their research. The maximum contribution amount is 2000 $. We believe we can finance a maximum of three (3) presentations.

Value of award
Up to 2000 $ Canadian dollars is awarded per applicant.

Application Form

  • Students must be enrolled in a master's program, doctoral or post-doctorate and be a member of the RRSPQ.
  • They must have an abstract accepted for oral presentation or poster presentation at an international conference.
  • Communication must be the result of the work of masters, doctoral or post-doctoral student.
  • The conference may be held in Canada provided that it is international (mentioned in the title, international speakers, etc.).
  • The theme of the summary and the conference should focus on Population Health in connexion with the activities of the Strategic Groupings of the Network
  • The student must be first author of the abstract.
  • A contribution will be allocated once per student per year

Document required:
  • Contest form completed and signed by the student and his or her supervisor
  • Summary of communication as submitted
  • Proof of acceptance of the paper
  • Proof of registration at the conference
  • Information about the conference, including: title, location, date, and a summary to understand the scope and objectives of the conference
  • Proof of enrollment in a master's degree, doctorate or post-doctorate from a university in Quebec
  • Academic Transcript

Selection criteria:
  • Originality and scientific quality of the abstract communication
  • Potential impact on population health
  • Multidisciplinary
  • Quality of academic record

  • Students that will be funded must mention the financial support of RRSPQ in their communication to the international conference and provide proof by any means.
  • They will present their paper to the nearest RRSPQ Annual Scientific Meeting to be held in mid-March, Costs incurred for such participation will be repaid based on the cost rates.
  • Their presence at the Annual General Meeting, held on the same day, will also be required.

The records must be electronically submitted to no later than September 15th, 2015 for conferences taking place subsequently (i.e.: from December to May) and no later than February 1st, 2016 for conferences taking place thereafter (i.e.: from June to November). The decisions of the Selection Committee will be rendered two weeks after the competition deadline date. The support offered by the Network will not exceed 2000 $ and will be paid upon submission of original receipts (expense reimbursement).
