Emplois Public Policy - Assistant / Associate Professor (Health and Social Policy/Law) -McGill University

Applications are invited for a tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the field of Public Policy, to be held jointly at the Institute for Health and Social Policy (IHSP) and in the Faculty of Law, McGill University.

We seek a researcher and educator whose focus is on all aspects of public policy, from policy-making to policy implementation and evaluation. The ideal candidate will have carried out research on some aspect of health policy, but will have also worked on other policy domains. The candidate will also have an independent interest in theoretical aspects of the public policy making process. Active involvement in some aspect(s) of policy-making, policy implementation or policy evaluation will be regarded as an asset.

Our preferred candidate will have a strong track-record working in interdisciplinary contexts and in a bilingual environment. The Institute for Health and Social Policy brings together researchers from a variety of disciplines, from Philosophy to Epidemiology, around issues to do with the impact of social policy on health and health equity. The Faculty of Law has developed a strong tradition of fostering research programs and launching research units, such as the Research Group on Health Law and the McGill Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism that reach widely within McGill's community of researchers.

Applicants must possess a PhD in a relevant discipline (including, but not limited to Public Policy, Law, Political Science, Economics, Philosophy). The successful applicant will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the Faculty of Law, and must be in the process of developing a vigorous research program, embracing graduate student supervision. As a member of the Institute for Health and Social Policy, the successful candidate will be given time and resources to pursue this research program intensively. The candidate will be expected to seek out and participate in research projects that link with the research programs of Faculty and Associate Members of the IHSP, and to contribute to the life of a research-intensive unit, by securing funding, organizing academic and outreach events, and participating fully in the training of interns and graduate associates at the Institute.

The initial appointment for tenure track positions at McGill is for three years with possibility of renewal. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
