Webinaires Webinar: Reducing health care barriers for uninsured clients

Health Equity Impact Assessment (HEIA) Community of Interest - CAMH Immigrant and Refugee Mental Health Project

Despite our universal health care system, there are a number of reasons why someone may be living in Ontario without OHIP, the public health insurance coverage. People who are uninsured due to their immigration status face considerable barriers to health care, receive differential care, and have poorer health outcomes.

As we take action to address health inequities, racism, and exclusion in our health system, it is critical that we understand and address the needs of uninsured populations.

In this webinar, we will explore:

  • how people become uninsured
  • what barriers uninsured populations face in the health care system
  • what you can do, as an individual and organization, to support clients who do not have health coverage due to immigration status.
